Why Afrobeats Became Global – Joeboy

Afrobeats singer, Joseph Akinwale Akinfenwa-Donus aka Joeboy has opened up on why Afrobeats was accepted internationally.
According to him, the extroverted nature of most Nigerians was instrumental in the genre gaining significant global reach.
He stated this during a recent interview with Zwart.
Joeboy explained that the rich pool of talents, a large population, social media and the diaspora also played vital roles in making Afrobeats a global genre.
He said, “Afrobeats is here now because it has been a long time coming. And there’s so much talent, it’s only right that we just spread it to the world. Thankfully, Nigeria has a very huge population back home and even in the diaspora.
“Naturally, we are very loud. That’s what they said. So, we are very out there. And, wherever we are in the world, we like to represent [our culture]. That also played a huge role [in Afrobeats gaining global attention]. And also, social media and the quality of music coming out from Nigeria.”
