White Man Who Murdered A British-Nigerian Boy In London Streets Faces Life Sentence

A 37-year-old Spanish-Brazilian has been found guilty of murdering a 14-year-old British-Nigerian schoolboy Daniel Anjorin in a brutal sword attack in northeast London.
Marcus Monzo faces a life sentence when he is formally sentenced on Friday at the Old Bailey.
He was found guilty on Wednesday of murder, three counts of attempted murder, aggravated burglary, grievous bodily harm, and possession of a bladed weapon, following a violent rampage in Hainault on April 30, 2024.
Daniel Anjorin was on his way to school when Monzo, wielding a samurai sword, crept up behind him and delivered a fatal blow to his head and neck. Witnesses described Monzo screaming in “delight” after the attack.
The court heard that Monzo targeted multiple victims in a 20-minute spree, injuring two police officers, a pedestrian, and a couple in their home.
Monzo, who had a blue belt in Brazilian jiu-jitsu, also drove his van into a man before attacking him with the sword.
During the trial, Monzo claimed he had no memory of the attacks and blamed a diminished mental state after consuming ayahuasca, a hallucinogenic tea.
However, no trace of the drug was found in his system, and prosecutors argued that self-induced intoxication was not a defense.
The jury rejected Monzo’s claims of psychosis and found him guilty of the murder and multiple other violent crimes.
Daniel’s grieving parents, who attended the trial, described him as “a beloved son” and “a precious brother,” expressing devastation over his senseless killing.
Monzo showed no emotion as the verdicts were read. He had previously admitted to possessing the samurai sword and a katana found in his van.
