Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, the Minister of Interior, hosted the United Kingdom’s Minister of State for Home Affairs, David Hanson, in his office to discuss strengthening bilateral efforts to combat trans-border fraud.

During their meeting, Tunji-Ojo emphasised Nigeria’s unique role as a gateway between the Sahel and the Gulf of Guinea, underscoring the country’s commitment to enhancing security measures aimed at curbing organised immigration crimes.

He also stressed the importance of collaboration between Nigeria and the UK in tackling these issues.

Tunji-Ojo on his X handle wrote: “I received in my office the UK’s Minister of State for Home Affairs, Rt Hon. David Hanson. We discussed the need to collaborate in our efforts to combat trans-border fraud.

“Given our country’s unique position as a gateway to both the Sahel and the Gulf of Guinea, we are putting in place concrete security measures to address organised immigration crimes.

“Leveraging our longstanding relationship with the UK, we will lead the drive against organised crimes within the African context, and see that the government of President #officialABAT (GCFR) redeem the image of Nigeria as the bad reputation of a few cannot continue to define the good reputation of our great country.”
