This Is Disheartening – Man Accuses Instagram Of “Stereotyping” Him After A Warning Was Issued About Him Residing In Nigeria

A Nigerian man has accused photo-sharing app, Instagram, of ”stereotyping” him after a prompt was allegedly sent to someone who tried sending him a message.

Daniel Adebowale took to Facebook to share a screenshot of a prompt Instagram sent to someone who sent him a direct message on the platform.

The prompt from Instagram to the sender reads: “Daniel appears to be in Nigeria.”

It further states: “Don’t share personal info with people that you don’t know. Requests for photos or money from strangers may be signs of a scam”.

Calling out Instagram, Daniel Adebowale wrote: “Nah, this is so disheartening and sad

“Why would instagram send this prompt to someone that messages me

“Imagine a clients messages me and they see this, major turn off if they were skeptical initially

“Major stereotype from instagram.”
