The Trespasser Is Erecting A Fence – Peter Obi Raises Alarm

Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s presidential candidate in the 2023 general elections, has expressed concern over ongoing encroachment on the property of Next Foods Limited, owned by his younger brother, Ndibe Obi.
According to Obi, the individual responsible for the initial demolition has now begun constructing a fence on the site, seemingly to partition the land into two separate portions.
In a post on X, Obi condemned the development, describing it as a blatant act of trespass and a direct assault on the rule of law.
According to him, the secrecy and desperation surrounding the act “speak volumes.”
He further asserted that the action reeks of impunity and appears to be a calculated attempt to complicate ongoing legal proceedings.
Obi expressed hope that justice would be served in accordance with the law.
“The legal counsel to Next Foods Limited, acting on the instruction of the company’s CEO, my younger brother, Ndibe Obi, has taken the matter to court over the Ikeja property that was unlawfully demolished after a trespasser misled the court into granting an unjust possession order.
I have now been informed that the same trespasser, under the cover of night, is erecting a fence within the premises in an apparent attempt to divide the land into two,” he wrote.
The Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Council Worldwide had earlier expressed outrage over the demolition, describing it as the height of lawlessness and a disincentive to attracting investors into the country.
Meanwhile, the Lagos State Government has denied that any of its agencies were involved in the demolition, stating that Obi’s account of the incident is “disturbing” and “lacks factual basis.”
Former Labour Party gubernatorial candidate in Lagos State, Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, and activist lawyer Deji Adeyanju also condemned the alleged illegal demolition.
They described it as a manifestation of lawlessness and recklessness, indicative of a “notorious pattern of irresponsibility” that has become normalised under what they termed the “parasitic culture” of the ruling party.
