Over 300 Bandits Raid Police Camp in Kebbi, Steal Weapons

Armed bandits numbering over 300 have taken over a police camp in Makuku Village, Sakaba Local Government Area of Kebbi State on Thursday.

 

Information released by security analyst, Zagazola Makama on X on Friday revealed that the bandits also stole eight AK-47 rifles and set a patrol vehicle on fire.

 

According to Makama, the attackers suspected to be cattle rustlers arrived around 1:00 p.m while moving with a large herd of stolen cattle believed to have been taken from Niger State and headed towards Zamfara.

 

Makama reported that the attack led to a heavy exchange of gunfire, but the police officers at the camp were overpowered.

“The bandits burnt a Toyota Hilux patrol vehicle and escaped with eight rifles belonging to the police unit,” he said

 

In response to the attack, soldiers from Operation FANSAN YANMA and other security agencies were deployed to the area.

 

They have begun search and rescue operations and are currently tracking the bandits through their escape routes.
