No Government In Nigeria Has Ever Raised Workers Salary Like Tinubu

The Minister of Labour and Employment, Muhammadu Dingyadi, has praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the recent minimum wage increase, claiming no previous administration in Nigeria’s history has raised workers’ salaries as substantially.
Speaking during an interview on Arise Television, Dingyadi said the president has shown a clear commitment to the welfare of Nigerian workers, describing Tinubu’s efforts as a reflection of genuine concern for their well-being.
Dingyadi said: “Let me say this from my heart, not because I’m the minister today, but there has never been a time when any government in this country has ever raised the take-home pay of workers like President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
“He did raise it from N30,000 to N70,000, and we have never had that record in the history of workers in this country.”
While explaining the issue of devaluation and purchasing power, the Minister said: “We are all battling with this issue of devaluation. It’s not just Nigeria. It’s an international issue.
“This is something from the market, which you cannot dictate. It’s a free economy we have to allow.
“We have to take certain decisions in the interest of the economy and the interests of the entire people of this country.
“We are not dealing just with the workers. We are also dealing with the people who voted for this administration, and we also care for their standard of living.”
