Many Feared Dead As Tipper Truck Plunges Into Crowd In Jalingo Market (Photos)

Serious tragedy unfolded on Friday at the busy Mile 6 Market in Jalingo, Taraba State, when a tipper truck carrying sharp sand lost control and plowed into a crowd of traders and shoppers, resulting in multiple fatalities and numerous injuries.

The accident which occurred Friday afternoon, has ignited tension among residents.

Eyewitnesses said the accident occurred after one of the truck’s tyres reportedly burst while it was on high speed, causing the driver to lose control. 

The vehicle was said to have veered off the road and crashed into the crowded marketplace.

“It happened so fast. The truck was speeding, and after the tyre burst, the driver couldn’t steer. It just rammed into people,” said a local vendor who witnessed the incident.
