Man Arrested With Counterfeit 40,000 CFA at Minna Haji Camp

The PRO revealed that the suspect was found with 40,000 CFA Francs, which he allegedly stole from a house in Kwara State.

 

A 27-year-old man, Nda Baba Mohammed has been arrested with fake West African CFA totalling 40,000.

 

The man was arrested by men of the Niger State Police command.

 

According to the state Police Public Relations Officer, SP Wasiu Abiodun, the arrest was made on May 18, 2025, at the Hajj Camp in Tudun-Fulani, Minna, following a tip-off about a syndicate targeting unsuspecting pilgrims with fake money.

 

He disclosed that the suspect specializes in selling alleged counterfeit currencies to unsuspecting Hajj Pilgrims.

 

The PRO revealed that the suspect was found with 40,000 CFA Francs, which he allegedly stole from a house in Kwara State while working as a farmhand for one Mohammed.

 

“In the course of investigation, the suspect confessed that he stole the said currencies from the house of one Mohammed of Kwara State, during the period he went to carry out farming activities for him,” he saidm

 

The Command further disclosed that the suspect is currently in custody, and further investigation is ongoing to determine the origin of the currencies.

“Once the investigation is complete, the suspect will be charged to court for prosecution,” Abiodun added.
