Kano Police Dismantle Gun Smuggling Network, Recover 19 Rifles With 114 Live Cartridges

Operatives of the Kano State Police Command have dismantled a criminal organisation that specialises in smuggling firearms into the state.
During the operation, 19 fabricated revolver rifles with 114 live cartridges as well as six expended cartridges, were recovered.
The State Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, disclosed this during a press briefing at the Bompai police headquarters on Wednesday, April 16, 2025.
“Following a credible information received from a community member on 10/04/2025 at about 3:45 pm, a team of Police Operative arrested one Ahmad Mu’azu, ‘m’, 22 years old and Abdul M. Sadiq, ‘m’ 42 years old, all of Kuntau Quarters, Kano in possession of two (2) fabricated revolver rifles,” the CP stated.
“During the investigation, the suspects led investigators to the arrest of one Arma-Ya’u Lawal, Alias Agwada, ‘m’ 37 years old of Gwale LGA, Kano and the supplier of the rifles one Aliyu Sharif, ‘m’, 40 years old of Kano Municipal, who revealed that he is supplying the rifles from Plateau State.
“Further investigation led to the recovery of additional eighteen (18) rifles, totaling twenty (20) with one hundred and fourteen (114) live cartridges and six (6) expanded cartridges.
“The case is under investigation.”
