Female Soldier Allegedly Detained By Ex-army Chief’s Wife Over Missing $50,000

A female soldier has been detained by Hajiya Salamatu Faruk Yahaya, wife of Nigeria’s former Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Faruk Yahaya (retd.).
Yahaya ordered the detention of the female soldier over alleged theft of $50,000 from her residence in Abuja.
The soldier has been identified as 25-year-old female soldier, Amina Sani Maidoki.
According to Sahara Reporters, the soldier, who served as an aide-de-camp (ADC) to Hajiya Salamatu, was arrested on April 3, 2025, after her boss reportedly claimed that a large sum of money had gone missing.
Despite denying any involvement in the alleged theft, Amina was allegedly held without trial, first at the private residence of Salamatu and later at a military facility.
The relative also revealed that Salamatu initially ordered the soldier to be detained at her residence before transferring her to a military guardroom when the family threatened legal action.
The family has reportedly started selling their property in a desperate attempt to secure Amina’s release, while also calling for due process to be followed.
