Justin Combs has been accused of facilitating the travel of a woman from Louisiana to Los Angeles, where she was allegedly ass@ulted by his father, Sean “Diddy” Combs, and two unidentified masked individuals.

According to a lawsuit obtained by Page Six, Justin allegedly convinced the unnamed woman to travel to California in April 2017 under the pretense that he would get her a job in the entertainment industry.

The woman claimed she was put up in a Beverly Hills home for several days and was ultimately r@ped by several men, including Diddy.

The woman alleged that she connected with Justin, now 31, in 2017 via Snapchat and claimed he asked her for explicit photos, to which she agreed.

According to the documents, a few days later, the woman alleged, Justin invited her to California for a weekend to discuss her future career.

She claimed that Justin said he could get her a job through Diddy’s connections.

When the woman arrived in Los Angeles, she said, she was picked up by a driver and taken to a home, where she allegedly stayed the first night with Justin.

According to the suit, the woman claimed she and Justin “relaxed” and “talked,” and when she asked if they were going to leave the home, he allegedly said, “No.”

On one of the days, the woman claimed he offered her alcohol, pills or “poppers” and weed that she believed to be laced.

After taking the drugs, she claimed, three men arrived at the home wearing masks, one of whom was allegedly Diddy, now 55.

The woman claimed she knew it was the “I’ll Be Missing You” rapper by his “mannerisms,” adding that Justin called him “Pops.”

She was then allegedly escorted to a bedroom and told, “You better let this happen. Or else.”

The woman claimed each man took turns r@ping her, claiming that the “brutal gang-r@pe” occurred from late Saturday to around midafternoon on Sunday.

She was allegedly taken to the airport on Monday.

Diddy’s attorney denied the allegations.

“No matter how many lawsuits are filed, it won’t change the fact that Mr. Combs has never s£xually assaulted or s£x trafficked anyone — man or woman, adult or minor,”
a lawyer for the rapper said.

85,790 Candidates Haven’t Printed Exam Slips – JAMB https://allgist.ng/85790-candidates-havent-printed-exam-slips-jamb/ Fri, 27 Jun 2025 17:30:47 +0000 https://allgist.ng/85790-candidates-havent-printed-exam-slips-jamb/

Less than 24 hours to the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) mop-up test, the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has voiced serious concern over the low turnout of candidates who have printed their examination notification slips—documents required for participation in the exam.

JAMB had scheduled the 2025 UTME mop-up examination for Saturday, June 28, 2025.

In a statement on Friday, JAMB regretted that “As of this morning (Friday), only 12,442 out of the 98,232 scheduled candidates have printed their slips, reflecting a mere 12.6% participation rate.”

To this end, it appealed to candidates who missed their previous examinations, to reprint their slips to ensure they do not miss this opportunity.

“We strongly encourage all candidates, particularly those, who missed the main examination, to print their notification slips promptly.

“This is a rare opportunity for them to participate in this year’s examination,” it appealed in the statement that was issued through its spokesman, Fabian Benjamin.

The statement read further: ”We urge all candidates, who missed their previous examinations, to reprint their slips to ensure they do not miss this opportunity.

“The Board is actively monitoring the printing process to determine the number of candidates who will be present for the examination.

“Meanwhile, we have deployed both human and material resources to facilitate this exercise, ensuring that all registered candidates have the opportunity to sit the examination.

“Please note that failure to print the examination notification slip will result in forfeiture of the opportunity to take the examination.

“Once again, we urge all candidates to proceed immediately to print their slips for the examination scheduled for tomorrow, Saturday, 28th June, 2025.”

African Leaders Have No Basic Economic Knowledge To Develop Continent – Obasanjo Blows Hot https://allgist.ng/african-leaders-have-no-basic-economic-knowledge-to-develop-continent-obasanjo-blows-hot/ Fri, 27 Jun 2025 17:23:25 +0000 https://allgist.ng/african-leaders-have-no-basic-economic-knowledge-to-develop-continent-obasanjo-blows-hot/

Former Nigerian President Olusegun Obasanjo has criticized Africa’s political elite, stating that they lack the fundamental economic understanding required to effectively advance the continent’s development.

Obasanjo blamed the deficiency for underdevelopment, corruption, and dependency on foreign aid.

The octogenarian stated this during a panel session at the 32nd Afreximbank Annual Meetings (AAM2025) in Abuja on Thursday.

“How many of our leaders even understand basic economics to be able to run the affairs of their country? Look at how we go about borrowing and wasting money. Waste and corruption, they are strange bedfellows of development. And that is what most of our leaders engage in,”
he said.

While speaking on the theme ‘African Renaissance in an Era of Turbulence: Are the Lions Still on the Move,” the ex-president called for a re-evaluation of Africa’s governance systems, arguing that Western liberal democracy, inherited from colonial powers, no longer serves the continent’s best interests.

“In most African languages, opposition is the enemy. Where do you talk of a loyal enemy? Our democracy is not a democracy—it is a monocracy. You buy everyone; you become treasurer, and the money goes into your pocket,”
he added.

He further said that Africa’s traditional systems, based on consensus, communalism, and collective responsibility offered better models for inclusive governance.

Things To Know About Nigeria’s New Tax Laws https://allgist.ng/things-to-know-about-nigerias-new-tax-laws/ Fri, 27 Jun 2025 17:20:08 +0000 https://allgist.ng/things-to-know-about-nigerias-new-tax-laws/

President Bola Tinubu on Thursday signed four new tax bills into law, marking a significant step toward modernizing and simplifying Nigeria’s tax system.

In the new tax law, the Value Added Tax rate remains at 7.5 per cent despite initial proposals to increase to 12.5 per cent, but its scope is expanded.

Essential items—such as food, education, healthcare, public transport, residential rent, and exports—are zero-rated to ease inflationary pressure.

For revenue allocation is restructured: now 30 per cent of VAT proceeds are distributed based on consumption (rather than contribution), 50 per cent equally among states, and 20 per cent to population-based allocation.

With the latest development, it is expected that state revenue streams will increase, and it will also discourage tax evasion.

Overview of the four new laws

Nigeria Tax Act: Consolidates various tax rules into a single, simplified code, eliminating over 50 small, overlapping taxes. This reduces complexity and duplication, making it easier for businesses to comply.

Tax Administration Act: Establishes uniform rules for tax collection across federal, state, and local governments, ensuring consistency and reducing administrative conflicts.

Nigeria Revenue Service Act: Replaces the Federal Inland Revenue Service with the independent Nigeria Revenue Service, aiming for greater efficiency and autonomy in tax administration.

Joint Revenue Board Act: Enhances coordination between different government levels and introduces a Tax Ombudsman and Tax Appeal Tribunal to handle disputes fairly.

Key objectives of the new tax rules

Simplify Tax System: Reduces bureaucratic hurdles and overlapping taxes to make compliance easier, especially for small businesses and informal traders.

Increase Revenue Efficiency: Aims to boost Nigeria’s tax-to-GDP ratio from 10% (below the African average of 16–18%) to 18 per cent by 2026 without raising taxes on essential goods.

Reduce Financial Burden: Provides relief for low-income households and small businesses while ensuring high-income earners and luxury consumers contribute more.

Fund Public Services: Increased revenue will support infrastructure, healthcare, and education, reducing reliance on borrowing.

Who benefits and how

Low-Income Households:

Individuals earning up to ₦1 million ($650) annually receive a ₦200,000 rent relief, reducing taxable income to ₦800,000, exempting them from income tax.

VAT exemptions on essential goods and services (food, healthcare, education, rent, power, baby products) lower living costs.

Small businesses:

Businesses with an annual turnover below ₦50 million ($32,400) are exempt from company income tax.

Simplified tax filing without requiring audited accounts reduces compliance costs.

Large businesses:

Corporate tax rates drop from 30 per cent to 27.5 per cent in 2025 and 25 per cent thereafter.

Tax credits for VAT paid on expenses and assets allow businesses to recover the 7.5 per cent VAT.

Charitable, educational, and religious organisations:

Tax incentives for non-commercial earnings, encouraging community-focused activities.

Impact on different groups

Low-Income Earners: Benefit most from income tax exemptions and lower costs for essentials, increasing disposable income.

Small Businesses and informal traders: Simplified rules and tax exemptions encourage compliance and reduce financial strain, potentially formalising more businesses.

High-income earners and luxury consumers face higher VAT on luxury goods and premium services, plus capital gains tax on large share sales.

Government: Expects increased revenue for public services without overburdening vulnerable citizens.

Why reforms were needed

Nigeria’s tax system was outdated, inefficient, and disproportionately harsh on low-income groups.

The low tax-to-GDP ratio (10%) limited funding for critical services like healthcare and infrastructure.

Overlapping taxes and complex rules deterred compliance, especially among small businesses and informal traders.

Public and expert reactions

Positive sentiment: Small business owners welcome tax exemptions but seek clarity on enforcement to avoid unexpected levies.

Low-income earners appreciate relief on essentials but remain cautious about implementation.

Taiwo Oyedele, head of the Presidential Fiscal Policy and Tax Reform Committee, claims 90% public support, emphasising that success depends on awareness and trust.

The reforms align with Tinubu’s administration’s goal to reduce economic inequality and boost fiscal capacity without overburdening citizens.

By encouraging voluntary compliance and reducing reliance on loans, Nigeria aims to strengthen its economy and fund development projects.

These reforms mark a significant step toward a fairer, more efficient tax system, with a focus on supporting vulnerable groups while fostering economic growth. However, their success hinges on transparent enforcement and public trust. New Tax Laws Won’t Be Implemented Until January https://allgist.ng/new-tax-laws-wont-be-implemented-until-january/ Fri, 27 Jun 2025 17:16:45 +0000 https://allgist.ng/new-tax-laws-wont-be-implemented-until-january/

The Federal Government has said the newly signed four tax fiscal reform laws will be implemented from January 1st, 2026.

This is according to the Chairman of the Nigeria Revenue Service, Zach Adedeji.

Adedeji further explained that the six-month period between the enactment of the new fiscal laws is designed to give ample time to those saddled with the implementation to carefully prepare and ensure that all Nigerians are adequately sensitised.

According to Adedeji, the Federal Inland Revenue Service, FIRS by the signing of the bills into Law is now the Nigeria Revenue Service, explaining that the new law now defines the NRS’s expanded mandate, including non-tax revenue collection, and lays out transparency, accountability, and efficiency mechanisms.

“The Nigeria Revenue Service (Establishment) Bill, the third bill, repeals the current Federal Inland Revenue Service Act and creates a more autonomous and performance-driven National Revenue Agency.

“Two hours ago before we were FIRS, now we are Nigeria Revenue Service with expanded scope to focus on tax collection and with match efficiency.”

Chairman Presidential Committee on Tax Reforms, Taiwo Oyedele, said President Bola Tinubu had directed proper implementation of the laws while ensuring collective participation of all stakeholders.

“The journey is just beginning; writing the law, no matter how beautiful, no matter how transformative, no matter how innovative, it means nothing if it is not properly implemented. So, we are mindful of that. We are not going to relax.

“Mr President has given us the charge that now is time to move to implementation, and we are ready. We are prepared. It is not something we can’t do alone, even from the government side. It’s something we have to be collective about.”

Oyedele added that the committee will now include the private sector, public sector, civil society, professional bodies as well as international partners.

“The private sector, public sector, civil society, professional bodies, etc? Tax consultants, everyone, including our international partners, who mean well will work for Nigeria.”

Ibadan Polytechnic Students Reject Renaming Of Institution After Olunloyo, Ask Governor Makinde To Reverse Decision https://allgist.ng/ibadan-polytechnic-students-reject-renaming-of-institution-after-olunloyo-ask-governor-makinde-to-reverse-decision/ Fri, 27 Jun 2025 17:12:43 +0000 https://allgist.ng/ibadan-polytechnic-students-reject-renaming-of-institution-after-olunloyo-ask-governor-makinde-to-reverse-decision/

The Students’ Union Government (SUG) of The Polytechnic, Ibadan has strongly opposed the recent decision by the Oyo State Government to rename the institution. The union is urging Governor Seyi Makinde to promptly reverse the move, citing concerns over its implications for the school’s identity and legacy.

In a letter addressed to the governor and dated June 26, 2025, the union expressed what it described as “utmost disapproval and disappointment” over the move, insisting that it undermines the school’s decades-old legacy.

On Thursday, it was reported that Governor Makinde officially renamed the institution after the late former governor of the state, Dr. Omololu Olunloyo.

Makinde had made the announcement during his remarks at an interdenominational commendation service held in honour of the former governor at the Obafemi Awolowo Stadium in Ibadan.

The late Olunloyo served as the pioneer Rector of the institution before becoming governor.

He died on April 6, 2025, just weeks to his 90th birthday.

However, in the letter signed by its President of the Students’ Union, Oladipupo Olamide, and the General Secretary, Azeez Tolase, the union said, “We, the Students’ Union Government of The Polytechnic Ibadan, are writing to express our utmost disapproval and disappointment at the recent decision to rename our institution.”

The union emphasised the historical and academic significance of the institution, stating that the name “The Polytechnic Ibadan” is a symbol of excellence that should not be tampered with.

“We strongly believe that this decision is unjustifiable and disregards the rich heritage and history of our beloved school.

“For over 50 years, The Polytechnic Ibadan has been a beacon of academic excellence, producing outstanding graduates who have made significant contributions to society,” the letter added.

“The name “The Polytechnic Ibadan” is synonymous with quality education and has earned respect and recognition nationwide.”

According to the student leaders, renaming the institution would amount to erasing its identity and legacy, with far-reaching negative consequences.

“Renaming the institution would erase its identity and legacy, causing irreparable harm to its reputation and alumni,” they argued.

The union urged Governor Makinde to reconsider the decision, adding that they were open to dialogue to reach a solution that protects the institution’s heritage.

“We urge you to reconsider this decision and allow our school to retain its original name, which reflects its history, values, and mission.

“We are willing to engage in dialogue to find alternative solutions that benefit the institution.”

The union firmly demanded a reversal of the renaming decision, saying, “We request an immediate reversal of this decision and look forward to a prompt response.

“The Polytechnic Ibadan must remain as the Polytechnic Ibadan!”

Jude Okoye Shades Peter Okoye, Cynthia Morgan And Others, Says They Became ‘Broke’ After Leaving His Record Label https://allgist.ng/jude-okoye-shades-peter-okoye-cynthia-morgan-and-others-says-they-became-broke-after-leaving-his-record-label/ Fri, 27 Jun 2025 17:06:21 +0000 https://allgist.ng/jude-okoye-shades-peter-okoye-cynthia-morgan-and-others-says-they-became-broke-after-leaving-his-record-label/

Music executive Jude Okoye took to Instagram to slam his brother Peter Okoye, former signee Cynthia Morgan, and other past artists who once worked under his label.

He accused them of becoming greedy after gaining success through his platform, leaving the label, going broke, and now attempting to shift blame for their downfall.

Jude stated in the post that everyone should be aware that he refuses to be intimidated or subjected to extortion. He said that he was accused of money laundering, among other things, and that he expected all these things to break him, but he refuses to comply with anyone’s demands or blackmail.

His post reads: ‘’They all have one thing in common: They were big, influential and successful when I was shouldering them with my platform until they got greedy and wanted to eat alone and so left. They never complained afterwards.

“Rather they bragged about their “new found freedom” and “making it all on their own”. Years down the line they fell off the wagon and became broke and instead of accepting responsibility and accountability for their choices, they are pointing fingers at the same person they left for their “freedom”.

“What manner of madness is that? They can’t specifically mention what wrongs were done to them, how and where. You can’t sell goods to someone and later demand for them back while refusing to return the money spent on the goods. Steady spinning sentiments and emotions to see if I can be blackmailed into submission. You should all know by now that I don’t succumb to bullying or cheap blackmail.

“They concocted and fabricated lies, attached money laundry and fraud to my name to get me jailed in order for me to break down within days and submit to their demands but to their surprises I sat it out for 2months. Una Dey find money when una don chop finish. When next they come out ranting ask them what WRONG I did to them that resulted to their present situation.”

Jude and his brother Peter have been at odds for a long time. Peter brought Jude before the EFCC on allegations that he embezzled money while managing the PSquare brand. Jude was remanded in jail and has been in and out of court until he was able to obtain his bail.

Cynthia Morgan, his former signee, has accused him over the years of diverting some of the money she earned while signed to him and of frustrating her out of his record label.

Tension Mounts As Ganduje Prepares To Resign As APC National Chairman https://allgist.ng/tension-mounts-as-ganduje-prepares-to-resign-as-apc-national-chairman/ Fri, 27 Jun 2025 17:00:38 +0000 https://allgist.ng/tension-mounts-as-ganduje-prepares-to-resign-as-apc-national-chairman/

In a significant development within the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), the party’s National Chairman, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, is anticipated to step down from his role on Friday.

A report by Daily Nigerian suggested that the move has been confirmed, and is due to mounting internal pressure.

Although no official announcement has been made yet, insiders say the former Kano State governor has come under mounting pressure from key party stakeholders—especially from the North Central region—who have long agitated for the chairmanship seat to return to their zone.

A highly-placed party source disclosed that, “barring any last-minute change of decision,” Ganduje will formally tender his resignation and hand over to one of the party’s national vice chairmen in acting capacity, pending a national convention scheduled for December.

The move, according to several party insiders, is part of broader efforts by the APC leadership to douse internal tensions and reposition the party ahead of the crucial 2027 general elections.

Ganduje was appointed APC chairman in August 2023 following the resignation of Senator Abdullahi Adamu.

His emergence stirred controversy at the time, with many in the North Central region—traditionally seen as the rightful zone for the party chairmanship—voicing their displeasure.

Social media has been agog as supporters of Ganduje and the opposition, especially members of the Kwankwasiyya movement are having a field day.

Engr Bashir Bukar Muhammad, a staunch supporter of Vice President Kashim Shettima and Borno Governor, Babagana Zulum wrote ‘The prayer is beginning to work.”

Hassan Cikinza Rano, former SSA to Ganduje on Agriculture under a picture of him and Ganduje said ‘It is certain, politics is harder than being in the army.’

Hon Abbah Bari wrote on his Facebook page: “A certain political calculation only by Ganduje and Asiwaju — honestly, what has been planned for Kano politics, if someone merely told you about it, you wouldn’t believe it. Just wait and watch.”
