FCCPC Seals Aba Office Of Impostor Consumer Agency, Arrests Operator

The Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC) has sealed the office of the Community Crime Prevention Initiative of Nigeria (CCPIN), accusing the organization of falsely posing as an authorized consumer protection agency.
The office, located at Number 214 Aba-Owerri Road, Aba, Abia State, was sealed in a joint operation with law enforcement agencies.
According to a statement issued by Ondaje Ijagwu, FCCPC’s Director of Corporate Affairs, the action was based on credible intelligence indicating that CCPIN was falsely claiming affiliation with the commission and misrepresenting itself as a non-governmental organisation connected to the FCCPC.
“During the operation, the operator of the facility, Ambassador Dr. Onwuka K. Okorie, was arrested on-site and is currently in police custody at World Bank Police Station, Abayi-Aba, Abia State, pending further investigation and prosecution. A number of exhibits bearing FCCPC’s name, logo, and false enforcement materials were recovered from the premises,” the statement said.
The FCCPC distanced itself from CCPIN, stating that it had not authorised or partnered with CCPIN or any similar body for enforcement or consumer protection.
It stressed that it “does not delegate such powers to NGOs, private entities, or individuals without formal legal authorisation.”
The commission also assured Nigerians of its commitment to transparency and consumer protection.
It warned the public to disregard any announcements, sealing notices, or campaigns issued by CCPIN or its representatives.
