The Benue State House of Assembly has welcomed back six out of the thirteen suspended members of the assembly.

Recall that they were previously barred from legislative activities.

According to the Assembly, it took the decision after the affected members submitted an appeal and a letter of apology by the six lawmakers to the House.

The reinstated members are: Hon. Simon Gabo, Hon. Elias Audu, Hon. Solomon Gyila, Hon. William Ortyom, Hon. Blessed Onah, and Hon. Anyor Mato.

They were among the thirteen legislators suspended for dissociating themselves from the removal of the state Chief Judge, Justice Maurice Ikpambese.

The lawmakers had described the removal of the Chief Judge as “unconstitutional” and a violation of the principles of separation of powers and fair hearing.

During plenary on Tuesday, the House, through a voice vote, resolved that the remaining seven suspended members would not be recalled unless they formally submit an appeal to the House.
