Former lawmaker, Senator Shehu Sani has lamented that agricultural summits in the North are mere “talking shops”.

According to him, nothing comes out of it.

Sani insisted that going to the farm is not the problem but coming back from the farm.

He said: “Going to the farm is not the problem but coming back from the farm. Agricultural summits in the North are just talking shops until the full restoration of law and order in the rural communities.”

The statement comes amid worsening insecurity in the northern part of the country, with bandits and terrorists chasing farmers off their farms.

This has also led to increased food prices, contributing significantly to the country’s high inflation rate.

Amid the high insecurity in farms around Nigeria, the presidency President Bola Tinubu approved the establishment of forest guards to protect Nigerian forests, many of which are occupied by terrorist groups.

According to the presidency, many young Nigerians will be employed and trained to be members of the forest guard.

It said this initiative will tackle issues threatening food production in the country.
