19-Year-Old Man Climbs A Billboard And Threatens To Commit Su!cide Over Popular TikToker In Kano

Operatives of the Kano State Police Command prevented a potential tragedy by rescuing a 19-year-old man who attempted to take his own life.

The young man identified as Ibrahim Abubakar, from Adamawa State, climbed a tall billboard at Ado Bayero Bridge on Monday, June 23, 2025. 

 

Deputy Police Public Relations Officer of the command, DSP Hussaini Abdullahi, who confirmed the incident in a statement, said that Ibrahim had threatened to jump from the billboard and commit suicide unless he saw a popular TikToker known as Abdul BK. 

 

According to the spokesperson, a team of Policemen and officials of the Fire Service swiftly arrived at the scene and initiated a rescue operation. 

 

Ibrahim was rescued unhurt after the TikToker was brought to the scene. 

 

“The Kano State Police Command rescued one Ibrahim Abubakar, ‘m’, 19 years old of Adamawa State, who climbed an advert Billboard at Ado Bayero Bridge on 23rd June, 2025. He had threatened to jump down and commit suicide unless he sees a popular Tik-Toker, one Abdul BK,”
the statement read.

 

“On receipt of the report, team of Policemen swiftly arrived the scene and initiated a rescue operation in collaboration with Fire Service team. Through dialogue and negations, the Tik-Toker was brought to the scene and the said Ibrahim satisfied with the gesture, was rescued unhurt. 

 

“He was feeling very weak, having spent some hours without food, and was rushed to Police Hospital, Bompai for medical attention.

 

“The State Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, PhD commends the professionalism and quick response of the combined teams of security officers, who successfully averted the potential tragedy.

 

“He has ordered detailed investigation into the incident.

 

“The Command while reiterating its commitment to ensuring the safety and security of all citizens, uses this opportunity to warn the public against embarking in such act, as it is a criminal offense punishable under the law.

 

“It encourages anyone struggling with emotional difficulties and other related issues to seek help from relevant authorities and professionals.”
