Rapper, Ice Prince Talks About Late Mother, His Hit Song ‘Oleku’ (Video )

Nigerian rapper, Ice Prince has reflected on how his breakout hit “Oleku” changed his life.
According to him, his late mother only got to witness the beginning of it all.
“My mom was still alive at the time when Oleku came out… she kind of like witnessed me become this Ice Prince… but she passed away like a year after the song came out.” the rapper said.
Although she didn’t get to see the full impact of his rise to fame, she saw him perform a few times and was there for the start of his stardom.
Oleku wasn’t just a hit—it was a turning point. Ice Prince described the experience as “unbelievable,” recalling how the track took him across the continent. “I’m going to Kenya, Botswana, Zimbabwe, Malawi, Ghana, Cameroon… South Africa. God is great, man.”
But behind that success was over a decade of unseen hustle. “I was in the studio for 11 straight years,” he said. “No school, no real job. I was helping out in the studio, even became the studio manager at one point.”
After years of grinding, Ice Prince summed it up simply: “God finally picked the call.”
