15 Years Of Love, Pain, And Unshaken Faith

In a truly heartfelt TikTok video that has resonated with thousands online, a young Nigerian woman shares her emotional journey of caring for her mother, who has been bedridden for 15 years following a stroke.
Her story is a powerful testament to the courage it takes to love, hope, and sacrifice—especially when no one is watching.
“The doctors told us to give up on her… just manage her until the day God calls her,” she said, her voice steady but heavy.
Her mother, who turned 63, can’t speak, walk, or feed herself. Every movement — from lying down to using the bathroom — has to be assisted. It’s been this way since the young woman was just 10 years old.
“Imagine growing up without your mother. I can’t remember much about her… all I have are stories people tell me. That’s all I know of her — and yet, she’s the sweetest soul I’ve ever known.” she said
She detailed how after a 2020 brain surgery, things briefly seemed hopeful. But the symptoms returned, and the family was told by doctors that there was “nothing else they could do.”
“We just left everything in God’s hands. There’s literally nothing He cannot do.”
Yet, the toll has been heavy. Physically, emotionally, spiritually.
“Sometimes I ask, what kind of sin did my mother commit that God can’t forgive? What did we do to deserve this?”
Still, through the heartbreak and long years of silence, she’s held on to hope — and to her mother.
“Today, all I prayed was: God, please heal this woman. But if You’re not ready to heal her, then please take her… so she can rest.”
What hits hardest isn’t just the mother’s condition, but the loneliness that came with it. Friends vanished. Colleagues disappeared. The only ones left standing are her children.
“This life is funny. The people you think love you will vanish when you become nothing.”
Despite the abandonment and pain, she remains unwavering.
“We’ll continue to take care of her. We’ve done it this long, and we’ll keep doing it. Until God heals her… or calls her home.”
To everyone who still has their mother alive and well, she has a simple message:
“Cherish her. Respect her. Because when she’s gone, there’s no getting those moments back.”
